Thing 3

I have officially created my first blog and am making my third post :). As I looked through a few of the Best Teacher blogs, I realize that blogs are helpful and useful in the education field. As educators we should constantly be learning new things, so that we can enrich the young minds we will before us each and every day. The blogs allow teacher a way to communicate what they are doing, what works, and what does not work in the classroom. Looking at others blogs and adding to mine will help me become prepared and learn ways to run my classroom and teach new lessons. I could also set up a blog specifically for my students and their parents about what we are learning, the daily assignments, reminders, and useful online learning tools to be used at home. I am sure parents would feel more involved with this approach. I am looking forward to seeing how others use blogs in their classroom.

  1. I like the idea about using a teacher blog to post classroom information. The interactive aspect of it makes it more inviting than a weekly email. It can be a catch-all for all of the papers we will be sending home, especially in the beginning of the year. I think a blog would make the teacher seem more approachable for students and parents alike.

  2. Whitney, I like how you mentioned how you could use blogging to help your students parents feel involved. I also agree and plan on using the same techniques as you mentioned using with your students in the classroom. We have to try to make learning fun and engaging for our students. Kids get bored easily lol.

  4. Whitney, I like your idea to use a blog as a way to communicate with your students and their parents. I know another teacher who does something similar and he has found it very successful.
